mitriusЗамечательное есть стихотворение у Байрона с очень ЖЖ-шным названием -- The Irish avatar, я про него всегда думаю, когда вижу на экране компьютера много трилистников:
Ere the daughter of Brunswick is cold in her grave
And her ashes still float to their home o'er the tide(*)
Lo! GEORGE the triumphant speeds over the wave,
To the long-cherish'd land that he loved as his - - - - wife!
<...>
He comes in the promise and bloom of three-score,
To peform in the pageant the sovereign's part;
But long live the Shamrock that shadows him o'er!
Could the green in his hat be transferr'd to his heart!
(*) Там в соборе так и написали: "Caroline von Braunschweig - die gedemütigte Königin von England". Вот позор-то!
И перевод есть отличный:
Вот он, юный монарх на десятке шестом,
Он трилистник на шляпу свою нацепил;
О, когда б этим свежим зеленым листом
Он не шляпу, а душу свою осенил!
